So last Saturday night was the annual Master Photographers Association international awards night. It was originally planned to be a glitzy event at the Cutty Sark in London. However, due to the current Covid-19 situation it was felt best to move it to an online event. While it was a real shame not to be able to meet up with my fellow photographers from around the world, the night itself was still very special.
Over 1.000 images had been entered into the awards from some of the best photographers from around the world. There were only 236 Merits awarded with just 71 Finalists. When you see these numbers you can imagine how delighted I was when it came to the Newborn Portrait category and I discovered I had been awarded three Merits and one Finalist. To achieve these awards in a competition that includes some of the most accomplished international photographers really is a dream come true and something I am so, so proud of.
As any family knows who has visited the studio, I love what I do – capturing precious memories as timeless artwork to be treasured forever. Every family goes on a journey through parenthood and I feel so privileged to be able to join them and capture some of those once-in-a-lifetime moments.
My aim is always to give each family the best possible artwork, to hang on their walls and be cherished for a lifetime and beyond. By entering awards such as these, and being judged by a panel of top international judges, against some of the best photographers in the world, it makes sure that I achieve my aim. It also gives me inspiration to continue creating timeless artwork and to make sure I continually strive to be one of the best.
So in answer to my question ‘what do these awards mean for my wonderful families who visit the studio’, it means they can be assured they will get the most amazing artwork they can proudly display on their walls to remember their most precious moments.
Again, anyone who has visited the studio will know that I get very excited as soon as I book any of my photography experiences. I am like a ‘kiddie in a candy store’ and I love to pass that excitement on to every family.
I am very proud of the experiences I offer and so this year, when the Master Photographers Association also ran Business Excellence awards, alongside the photography awards, I was very excited to enter. Again, judged against some of the best international photography businesses, to achieve even a Merit is quite an achievement. So you can guess how pleased and proud I was to achieve three Finalist awards for Best Communication, Best Customer Focus and Best Sustainable Product or Focus.
My aim is for every family who visits the studio to have a fantastic experience – something they will remember forever as well as being able to treasure their artwork. Again these awards confirm I am achieving my aim.
I am particularly proud of the sustainability award, as I am passionate about doing as much as I can to protect our planet for our children. Every family who has visited the studio will know this, as they all receive a link to trees planted in their little ones’ names and they can revisit the link whenever they want. It may only be a little thing in the battle against the climate crisis, but it all helps.
