I should know as I missed it and still regret it today!!!!

Holding your precious newborn in your arms is the most magical moment and one you want to treasure forever. But you will be amazed at how quickly you forget they were ever that tiny.


I know, as my two oldest son’s are almost as tall as me now and my youngest is catching up fast! Their tiny fingers wrapped around my little finger are just a distant memory and one I wish I had captured to treasure forever.


This is why I am passionate about what I do - to make sure no other family misses out capturing their most precious memories, like I did and still regret to this day. 


Whether you are visiting the studio for the first, second or even third time, it is not just to take a few photographs but to create new memories while also capturing timeless art. You can then relive each magical adventure over and over again and share it with all the family. 


To give every family welcomed to the studio so much more with every portrait, I have qualified to Associate level with the Master Photographers Association and the Guild of Newborn and Baby Photographers. It took many hours of training with top national and international photographers as well as time to prepare the required written documents but it was worth it to be able to offer my clients the best of everything I learned….and am still learning today.


Also, you, as a new mum, want to know that your precious baby is safe.  To ensure every baby welcomed to the studio is looked after as safely as possible, I have also achieved my Newborn Certification with the Master Photographers Association. Newborn safety is something I am very passionate about and want every new parent to know as much as possible about too. Joshua, Samuel and Elijah are my three boys and they are my world, along with my husband Rob and our two dogs Freddie and Aggie. Our boys are typical boys and love football, cricket, Lego-building and taking Freddie and Aggie on outdoor family adventures. As you can imagine, everything is done at a thousand miles an hour and at three thousand decibels and I wouldn’t change it for the world!

So what does a Teeny Weeny Perfect Portraits experience involve? Long before you visit the photography studio in Staffordshire, I make sure you have lots to look forward too. By the time you visit the studio for your newborn photoshoot, we will make sure you are ready and as excited about your photo session as me.


One

Starting your journey

Don’t forget to book as soon as you can after your 20 week scan. I can only book a limited number of sessions each week to allow for late or early arrivals and I only ever book one session a day.


The best time to capture those teeny-weeny fingers and toes, eyelashes and nose is within the first 7 to 10 days. So I book a provisional date about 7 days after your due date, which can easily move as babies often haven’t received the memo about their due date.

 

There are lots of exciting things that happen even before your gorgeous newborn baby arrives so the earlier you book, the earlier the excitement can start!

TWO

Your newborn photoshoot

At my photography studio in Kings Bromley, near Lichfield in Staffordshire, you can sit back and relax while I capture every tiny detail of your little baby.


Everything is done at baby’s speed and so we normally say allow around 3 hours, while a separate sibling and family session normally takes around 1 hour. Every baby is different and so no two sessions are the same. We normally suggest a morning session as babies tend to be more settled in the morning but I always fit in with a time that suits mum and dad best.


If this is your second, third, or even fourth baby, we love including siblings too, both on their own, with their baby brother or sister and also with mum and dad too. Capturing those first portraits of big brother or big sister with their new baby are often the most treasured of all.


These sibling and family sessions can be booked for a separate day. Firstly, this means siblings won’t get bored during the newborn session but it also gives mum and dad a little bit of time to enjoy their new addition and to relax…..something that is much harder to do with older siblings too.!

Three

Your bespoke gallery presentation

At the end of your session I will arrange a gallery presentation appointment at a convenient time for you. This is normally in the viewing room at the studio but can also be via Zoom if that is more convenient for you. I suggest you bring your diary with you to the studio session so we can confirm a date.


There are lots of artwork samples in the studio for you to look at and feel. I will run through all the options with you and you will have a product guide to take away with you.

Here's some of the most
frequently asked questions...

  • When should we book our newborn photoshoot?

    I can only take a limited number of bookings each week as I have to allow leeway for babies arriving early or late (babies often don't receive the memo about their due date!). Therefore, to ensure I capture your baby's portraits when they are up to 2 weeks old I suggest you book as soon as you can after your 20 weeks scan. Once your booking is confirmed I will always make sure your session is secured.

  • Do I need to bring anything with me to the session?

    I have a selection of headbands, hats and other props for you to choose from. I always caht through colour schemes before your session so I know your favourites. Therefore, you don't need to bring anything. However, if you have a favourite toy or perhaps a family heirloom blanket, do bring that along and I will try and use it. It means your session is even more personalised to you.

  • Is there anything I should do before the photoshoot?

    If possible, if you can keep your gorgeous baby awake for a little while before your session, maybe even give them a bath, they will be super sleepy at the start of the session and it  helps a lot. If it doesn’t go to plan, do worry, I work at baby’s speed so no problem at all.

  • Do you include family portraits?

    Yes definitely! It is so important to capture your first family portraits. You will be surprised at how many families choose these portraits as their main wall art. I recommend that mums, dads (and siblings if there are any older brothers and sisters) wear fairly neutral clothes. Either all black or all white tops work really well. You will receive lots more information nearer your session but if you have any queries before do feel free to get in touch.

  • What should we wear for the family portraits?

    I will run through this in more details during your Zoom call before your session, but I always suggest wearing neutral, unpatterened clothes. All wearing black, white or cream tops works really well. Your portraits will only be from above the waist so wear what is comfortable below that!

  • What should I dress baby in?

    Most of your portraits will be of baby in simple wraps. If you can avoid dressing baby in anything that needs to go over their head that is perfect. Ideally if you can wrap them in blankets rather than clothes that works really well. It means we don’t have to disturb them too much if they are nice and sleepy.

  • I am breastfeeding, will I be able to breastfeed in private?

    Of course, I always allow plenty of time to feed baby and if you prefer, I can leave you in peace to feed at your leisure.

  • Do you have facilities to warm bottles?

    Yes I can easily warm bottles for you. I do recommend you bring more bottles than you would normally need as it is likely that baby will feed more during their session.

  • What if my baby has really dry skin, scratches, or milk spots/baby acne?

    No problem. Most babies will have the odd milk spot of scratch and I can edit out any unwanted blemishes post-production. Don’t worry though, you will still be able to see the gorgeous texture on baby’s skin.

  • When can we see our gallery?

    At the end of your session I will arrange a gallery presentation appointment at a convenient time for you. This is normally in the viewing room at the studio but can also be via Zoom if that is more convenient for you. I suggest you bring your diary with you to the studio session so we can confirm a date.
