How amazing is a Mum-to-be?! Growing a new life is just awesome and deserves to be celebrated. This is why a Little Bean maternity experience is so special. It captures the magic of pregnancy and makes sure families can treasure it forever.
Danielle dropped me a message as she was looking for a pregnancy photoshoot. She was particularly keen on capturing artistic nude and semi-nude portraits. We had a long chat and Danielle decided that my style suited exactly what she was looking for, so she booked her session. We arranged a date when she was 33 weeks pregnant and made sure that Dad-to-be would be able to make it too.studio session always starts with some fun portraits.
The week before Danielle and James’ maternity session we chatted via Zoom and ran through her session. I answered any questions and we talked about styles for the session. It’s a great way to make sure we have everything ready for the session and also it’s lovely to get to know couples a little better before they visit the studio. A maternity session can be quite daunting for some couples and I love to make them feel as relaxed as possible – their Zoom consultation call really helps with that. It also builds up the excitement!
On the day of their session I had got everything ready based on what we chatted about in our Zoom call. We started off with relaxed white shirt and jeans portraits. They are a great way to ‘break the ice’, particularly if it’s the first time in a studio.
We then moved on to using some of the wonderful fabric I have in the studio. It is so flattering and can be used so many different ways. That was followed by one of the many stunning maternity dresses I have hand-picked for Mums-to-be to choose from. Dannielle picked a stunning dark red dress and she looked absolutely amazing!
By now we were having lots of fun and giggles and both Danielle and James had relaxed into the session. We then moved to the artistic nude and semi-nude portraits, which was the main style that Danielle was looking for when she booked. With different lighting techniques we created a number of different looks, all of which were absolutely stunning and Danielle looked truly amazing.
During our Zoom consultation, Danielle had also mentioned she would love a portrait of her doing the splits! As well as being totally in awe of her being able to do the splits whilst pregnant (or at all if I’m honest) it was also lovely to be able to capture this special memory for her.
We finished off the session with some lovely silhouette portraits. In every set up, we captured Danielle on her own but also Danielle and James. Dads-to-be can sometimes feel slightly isolated during pregnancy as they don’t get to feel baby the way Mums-to-be do (and if your baby is anything like any of my three….as soon as my husband went to put his hand on my tummy to feel them move they went quiet!!). You can feel the love and excitement throughout Danielle and James’ gallery and it really is such a perfect memory of such a precious time.
Danielle and James came back to the studio the following week and viewed their gallery. They could then choose which artwork suited them best.
I love being able to help families select the exact artwork collection for them. There are obvious favourites that lots of families choose but every artwork collection is different and created exactly for the family.
It was really lovely to hear Danielle’s comments after her experience at the studio.
“The most beautiful I have felt during pregnancy, thanks to Sarah and her wonderful skills. Thank you for capturing these moments and leaving us with a lifetime of memories of our baby boy bump and this beautiful journey!”
